Here I am…
If you have time to read I want to share with you my personal story, my believes, thoughts about life and anything that is on my mind now…
I want you to know who I am, what I am passionate about, why I do what I do.
Where and how I started
Probably as most people reading this post I started my conscious journey at school, traditional usual school in Russia, Siberia.
I did pretty good at school, wasn’t a genius but one of the best students.
Besides studying I was always interested in sports/health/nutrition. I don’t even know where and how it all started. My father was always into sports, physical training teacher doing sports whenever he had an opportunity – skiing, playing team games outdoors, cycling, yoga, body weight exercises. He encouraged me and my sister to do sports, he taught me how to skate, ride my bicycle, ski, swim, play different games. Sport was a part of my daily life since childhood. I never thought of it as chore or something I had to do, it was as natural as eating.
At school I was attending additional physical training classes, taking part in sport competitions between schools, taking dance classes, doing yoga at home, doing aerobics with my sister at home, going skiing or doing some other sport with my father on weekends…Sport and fitness was always a big part of my life definitely.
I was really lucky to have mother who cooked for us everyday really healthy meals. It wasn’t vegetarian, vegan cuisine but everything was fresh, unprocessed, homemade, not too fatty or salty or spicy. We rarely went out to eat, almost all our holidays we cooked at home together and some relatives or friends would come for dinners. Because of that even now I would always prefer having nice home-made dinner to going out to a fancy restaurant.
I guess that was one of the reasons(plus my active lifestyle) why I didn’t have any really serious issues with my health.
I was also never into sweets and junk food really, I rarely bought any sweets at the store, my mother made deserts at home often.
In my teens though because of all the pictures of models in the magazines and all my girlfriends going crazy about getting as thin as those models I started experimenting with all kinds of diets, you name it – I tried it: low calories, low carbs, low fats, fasting, carbohydrate cycling etc. And they all had some result but after a while I would feel so deprived so I would eat tons of sweets and other junk foods(that I never did before I started dieting) and gain more weight than I had before.
That’s when my interest to nutrition and diets appeared. I wanted to find ideal diet or way of eating that would allow me to be healthy, fit, full of energy, without starving myself or counting calories and nutrients, taking supplements etc.
That were my teens…
In my university I continued experimenting with diets and started thinking more about healthy eating habits(I thought at that time I was eating pretty healthy and I guess I was compared to most students).
I was very active, started running, training with weights, doing yoga, conducting fitness and yoga classes, training fellow students, attending dance classes…
I was always conscious about my food choices, tried eating mostly unprocessed foods, low fat, moderate to low carb, include some fruits and veggies, some dairy products like yogurt and tvorog(some kind of cottage cheese, low fat, no sugar, no salt), some meat(I was eating less and less of animal products though)…
I was doing pretty good but it was a JOB! I had to count calories, carbs, fats, proteins, take vitamins, still often didn’t have enough energy and had my binging days when I would eat whatever…and a lot of it.
When I was 18 I went to US for almost 2 years where I ate lots of processed foods – there was so much new things to try – so I did... Ate out a lot, lots of cheesecakes, potato salads, cream cheese, bagels, cheese. I was working out too, worked as a personal trainer but ate way too much and as a result +10 kilos in first 2 months.
After a while I got tired of eating and started working out more, eating unprocessed foods, watching carbs and calories etc. and lost almost all the weight I put on by the time I got back to Russia.
In Russia I finished my studying, got my degree in computer science and worked as a programmer for some time.
Very soon I realized I didn’t want to be a programmer at all, couldn’t take all that sitting in front of the computer, I would feel like crap at the end of the day.
So I decided to pursue a career in fitness because I was training and consulting people anyway and was really passionate about fitness and health. So I thought why not to make it my profession? I seemed to have no problems with maintaining healthy body weight and eating healthy and exercising as most people did.
I got certified as a fitness trainer/personal trainer and nutritionist by Russian Assosiation of Fitness professionals(http://fitness-pro.ru/) while working as a sales manager and administrator at a fitness center.
Then I started training people, creating menu plans and diets for them, advising on healthy food and lifestyle choices.
I was on a carbohydrate cycling diet myself, training a lot.
Everything seemed to work pretty well, except my diet didn’t give me satisfaction and energy I wanted.
And for most people it was almost impossible to implement and maintain. Clients would lose weight with me but after holidays or vacation they would get all the weight back. People were struggling eating healthy and being healthy having enough energy to work also and spend quality time with their loved ones.
I was still seeking…
Seeking for an ideal way to eat that would allow stop thinking about food actually, have all the energy you need for life, be super fit without too much effort, be healthy and beautiful without all the supplements and beauty products and treatments.
I thought to myself: “Food, health, fitness is not supposed to be so difficult, it’s supposed to be as easy as breathing”.
And after some time thanks to my friend who gave me some esoteric book where the author also talked about our unconscious food choices – I found out about raw food diet and decided to try it 100% starting next day!
And so at the age of 22 I started my raw food journey…You can read more about my raw journey here.
Here I just want to say that just change in my diet changed my personality and life completely and that is why I am here now on Samui trying to bring health and fitness to people’s life and make it as convenient as possible. Because what I found out during my years of working with people – I did a lot of health coaching through internet besides personal training – the most difficult thing for people is implementing all the health principles they know, putting all the knowledge into practice. A lot of people would complain that they don’t have time to cook healthy food or don’t have time to go to gyms, have families to cook for, schedule is too busy etc.
So my goal now is to bring healthy food and fitness to people’s home or anywhere they want so they won’t have to worry about anything, their health will be taken care of and all they have to do is just live their lives!
Although I eat 100% raw for most people I recommend high raw diet(60% or more) that is optimal for health, fitness and life.
What I do now: create customized meal plans for different goals(weight loss, building muscles, detox etc.), train people at home or any place, create fitness plans, cater delicious raw meals for special occasions, deliver raw foods to people's homes, raw food coaching for weight loss/gaining health/fitness/training/detox etc.
It doesn’t matter what your goal is: weight loss, improving fitness levels, building some muscles, gaining health, getting healthy skin and hair, detox…I can definitely help you through healthy food choices and fitness.
I help people to build health through food and active lifestyle – everything else: beautiful body, skin, hair, nails, energy, happiness – will follow.
Just recently I got a lot of inspiration from Boris Lauser, raw food chef(http://www.facebook.com/boris.lauser, http://www.balive.org/) and getting more into gourmet food that is not only healthy but also delicious and beautiful and inspiring!
What else to say about myself?
